National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute in his activities use the latest methods of research, positively cooperate with the Lithuanian and foreign scientific institutions, the EU reference laboratories and other organizations. For several years the EU-funded "twinning" projects have helped establish the close contacts with the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, Lower Saxony Food and Consumer Safety Office, the French food safety agency, the center of Turin Veterinary Laboratory (Italy), University of Florence, Degli Studi Di Roma "Tor Vergata" University, Scottish Agricultural College Veterinary Office, Lund University of Sweden and other organizations. The Institute also participates in the EU legislative working groups.

NFVRAI cooperate with the Lithuanian scientific institutions and laboratories: Lithuanian Veterinary Academy, Inc. "Pieno tyrimai" laboratory, Institute of Immunology, the Customs Laboratory, the Radiation Safety Center, Kaunas University of Technology, the Food Institute of Kaunas University of Technology, Vilnius Pedagogical University. Relations with the neighbors of Latvia, Estonia and Poland: the Latvian state veterinary medical diagnostic center, the Estonian Veterinary and Food Laboratory, the Polish veterinary Pulav Institute actively developed.

In recent years, cooperation’s with colleagues from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia increased. Laboratory professionals of these countries come to the Institute to train and to share experiences. Institute actively interacts with the Ukrainian state veterinary medical laboratory, the Russian state veterinary drugs and feed quality and center of standardization.
