Food Risk Assessment Unit  provides scientific and technical advice in order to ensure food safety. The Unit performs risk assessment of contaminants in food, microbiological risk assessment of food, risk assessment of food additives and novel food, risk assessment of genetically modified organisms and their products, and assessment of risks related to food production. The Unit carries out epidemiological analysis of zoonoses and zoonotic agents and prepares food safety risk assessment guidelines and risk management recommendations. It closely cooperates with European Food Safety Authority and German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in the field of risk assessment of food safety. It provides risk assessment opinion to consumers and stakeholders and strengthens cooperation between risk assessors and risk managers. Decisions based on scientific risk assessment ensure food safety and interests of consumers and stakeholders.
