Authorization of biocides
Biocidal products to be put on the market of the Republic of Lithuania are subject to the authorization/registration procedure according to the requirements of:
- Regulation on authorization and registration of biocidal products approved by the Order No. 358 (8 July, 2002) of LR Minister of Health Care
- Rules on authorization and registration of biocidal products approved by the Order No. 421 (14 August, 2002) of LR Minister of Health Care.
According to the point 1.1.1 of Order No. B1-440 of August 25 th 2008 of Director of State Food and Veterinary Service “Regarding the procedure of authorisation and registration of biocides for veterinary use” Institute is assigned to perform the authorisation and registration of biocidal products of the following product types:
- Type 3. Veterinary hygiene biocidal products (used for veterinary hygiene purposes including products used in areas in which animals are housed, kept or transported;
- Type 4. Food and feed area disinfectants (for the disinfection of equipment, containers, consumption utensils, surfaces or pipework associated with the production, transport, storage or consumption of food, feed or drink (including drinking water) for humans and animals);
- Type 14. Rodenticides (control of mice, rats or other rodents);
- Type 18. Insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods;
- Type 19. Repellents and attractants (for control of harmful organisms such as fleas, birds, etc.);
- Type 20. Preservatives for food or feedstocks.
